Apple Creek News - 2025 Winter Update February 21, 2025 |
Apple Creek News - 2025 Winter UpdateIf you have not already received your renewal notice or 2025 seasonal lawn care contract, you will see it soon. We thank you for being our customer. Your business is appreciated! This winter has been colder and icier than recent years, but clean up & mowing season will be here before you know it. The cold temperatures as well as snow and ice covering the ground for the past couple of months mean that voles, deer and other animals are having a harder time reaching some of their traditional food sources. This leads them to seek alternative food sources. Unfortunately those alternatives are most often our dormant landscaping. Deer especially will make a snack of plants that they do not normally browse on, even those that are distasteful or have thorns. Voles travel under the snow to the base of young trees and chew through the bark to eat the soft cambium layer. New landscaping installations are especially vulnerable to browsing damage. Hungry deer will eat anything above the snow that they can get to. If you are seeing signs of damage or concerned about possible damage call the office & request an application of animal repellent. See our Landscaping Protection Plan page for more information: landscaping-protection-plan.html Crews are readying the trucks and equipment and we can't wait to get back to work!
